Leonardo telah mengonfirmasi bahwa mereka telah menawarkan pesawat tempur Eurofighter EF-2000 Typhoon Tranche 5 kepada Departemen Pertahanan Nasional Filipina untuk memenuhi kebutuhan Pesawat Tempur Multiperan bagi Angkatan Udara Filipina.
Wakil Presiden Leonardo untuk Ekspor Eurofighter Typhoon, Constantino Pravini Rosati, dalam sebuah wawancara dengan Aviationweek, mengatakan bahwa Leonardo ditunjuk oleh Konsorsium Eurofighter untuk memimpin kampanye penawaran Eurofighter EF-2000 Typhoon Tranche 5 pada tahun 2023.
Berdasarkan anggaran Angkatan Udara Filipina yang dialokasikan untuk 40 pesawat, Leonardo mengonfirmasi bahwa mereka dapat memasok 32 pesawat tempur Eurofighter Tranche 5, beserta paket yang mencakup berbagai amunisi yang tersedia, termasuk rudal udara-ke-udara jarak jauh MBDA Meteor, rudal udara-ke-udara jarak pendek ASRAAM, rudal udara-ke-darat Brimstone, dan rudal jelajah peluncuran udara Storm Shadow, di antara yang lainnya.
Leonardo mengonfirmasi bahwa penawaran tersebut akan dilakukan melalui kesepakatan antarpemerintah, didukung oleh skema pembiayaan untuk mencicil pembayaran secara bertahap, serta opsi untuk memproduksi komponen Typhoon secara lokal yang akan menjadikan Filipina sebagai basis pasokan utama pesawat tersebut di kawasan Asia Pasifik, yang akan memungkinkan dukungan penempatan Eurofighter Eropa di kawasan tersebut.

Pelatihan pilot PAF diperkirakan akan dilaksanakan di Sekolah Pelatihan Penerbangan Internasional di Sardinia, Italia.
Selain itu, karena Italia dan Spanyol sedang memesan lebih banyak Eurofighter Tranche 5, Filipina kemungkinan akan mendapatkan slot produksi, yang memungkinkan Angkatan Udara Filipina (PAF) mendapatkan batch pertama Eurofighter paling cepat pada tahun 2028 jika kontrak ditandatangani pada tahun 2026.
Leonardo yakin bahwa Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 5 dapat "secara kredibel mengungguli penentangnya", yang mungkin merujuk pada pesawat tempur dari Tiongkok termasuk pesawat tempur J-10, J-11, dan J-16 Angkatan Udara PLA, serta pesawat tempur J-15 Angkatan Laut PLA.
Selain pesawat tempur, Leonardo juga menjajaki peluang potensial lainnya, termasuk penjualan pesawat latih M-346 atau M-345 untuk kebutuhan Jet Latih PAF, sistem Peperangan Elektronik (EW), helikopter, sistem pertahanan udara berbasis darat (bekerja sama dengan MBDA), serta sistem dan layanan keamanan siber.
