Establishment of a Working Group to Study and Convert Bien Hoa Airport into a Dual-Use Airport

The Government Office has issued Official Letter No. 2635/VPCP-CN to the Ministers of Defense, Transport - VT, Public Security, Planning - DT; Chairman of the People's Committees of the provinces: Ninh Thuan, Dong Nai related to the establishment of the Working Group to deploy the airports: Thanh Son (Ninh Thuan province) and Bien Hoa (Dong Nai province).

According to the official dispatch, in order to have a basis for considering the conversion of Thanh Son and Bien Hoa military airports into dual-use airports, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh to be the Head of the Research Working Group. Research and propose to the Government and the Prime Minister before September 2022. The composition of the Working Group includes representatives from the Ministries of National Defense, Public Security, Transport - VT, Planning - Investment and the Chairman of the People's Committees of Ninh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces.

Bien Hoa Airport was built before 1975, located about 30km from Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, this airport is still used by the Vietnam People's Air Force.
