The Rare and Legendary Version of the T-54 tank of the VPA

MOSKVA (Sputnik) - The Vietnam People's Army's (VPA) Armored Tank Corps continues to amaze with rare modified versions of the T-54 in its service.

Specifically, a few weeks ago, Russian media reported that on the service of the People's Army of Vietnam there was a unique T-54 tank, also known as the 1947 model, as dream of many military museums around the world. 

At contests held last week to determine the best crew, a 1949 model Soviet medium tank T-54 can be seen among the models.

It turns out that this version has been to Southeast Asia and may even be in combat.

Compared with its predecessor, the turret of this tank model is more perfect, but the back beveled part has not been removed. To reduce the total weight to 35,500 kg, the front body of the tank was made thinner, however, this did not affect the bullet resistance properties.

 The tank soldier is armed with a Goryunov 7.62 mm machine gun. The same gun was paired with a 100mm caliber D-10T rifle. There is also a DShK 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun.

To increase maneuverability in difficult terrain, the track is enlarged. The engine remains the same - B-54, with a capacity of 520 horsepower. The maximum speed of the tank on the highway is 50 km/h. The tank's fuel reserve is enough for a distance of 330 km.
